Trip to Penang - June 2013

We booked this trip 9 months ago with AirAsia, when they were giving free tickets. The tax alone for 4 of us came to $586, incluing Seat Request, Insurance and 1 x 20kg Check-in luggage.

We did not really look forward to the trip as I worked pretty late, (overnite in the last 2 nites) during the last few days before the trip, busy over a project. Thus did not have much time planning the route and places of interest. My wife, Carol, also did not pack until the nite before. For those who knows her, she normally start packing weeks before a trip.

Our flight was at 12:50 pm. So it was a slow bus+MRT ride to the airport that day.

Arrived in Penang Airport, and took a airport cab (RM$44.60) to the hotel, Cititel Penang. The hotel was recommended in a Travel TV show.  Located centrally in Penang Road.

We then made our way to try the famous Laksa. This is the one near the  Lek Lok Si Temple.

The Famous Laksa. Frankly, did not like it.

We found this coffe shop along Penang Road. My son like the Char Kway Teow there so much, that we ate it everyday.

And then we started exploring the city.

We found this restaurant opposite the jetty terminal.

And all the above for below RM$50.
