Hainan Homecoming Nov 2012 (Part 2)

Day 3: Huiwen - Haikou

This day marks the start of our land tour. We had to make our way to Meilan airport and gather with some others from singapore on the Tiger flight. The day is spend in Haikou itself, free and easy until the show at nite.

From the airport, we were transferred to Tienyow hotel to checkin.

Immediately after, we were transport to downtown, equivalent of Chinatown. First task ..lunch.

It started to rain after lunch. We hide within an adidas store (i bought a jacket there), and managed to get a cab back to the hotel. As it was still early for dinner, we make full use of the hotel facilities. First was bowling.
Then a hot-spring dip.
Dinner was at a local restaurant.
After dinner, we left for the optional show. Impression of Hainan, by well-known director, Zhang Yimou.

Day 4: Haikou to Xinglong

We will be travelling southward towards sanya. Midway is Xinglong, known for its coffee. But I did not like their coffee....too diluted. In fact, the home made one that my hosts gave me was much better.

The first stop is 五公祠. For hainanese, it is where you can study into your family tree, knowing who is the first migrant from mainland to Hainan. Surprise that most hainanese are actually hokkien originally.

Buffet breakfast:

The Boao Conference centre and 玉帯滩

 Egg fruit:

During lunch, I bought this extra at 160 yuan. Its glutinous rice layered on coconut flesh. Recommended for those who like coconut.

Then, it was plain shopping as we went to Xinglong Coffee, a foot massage at a medical hall.
This is coffee seed.

Our hotel for the night is Old Banyan Resort, at a pretty ulu location. We did not venture all, prefering to spent time in the hot-spring.

There was even a outdoor bathtub on the balcony of the room. However, as it was exposed and that it is in a rather ulu place, there was many insects and droppings in it.
